Can dogs eat oatmeal?
Why
Oatmeal is high in soluble fiber and provides vitamin B and linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid that supports skin and coat health. It should always be cooked and served plain, because flavored versions may contain excess sugar, raisins, or xylitol, all of which are harmful to dogs. Raw oats are harder to digest, so cooking first is important.
How much is safe
About one tablespoon of cooked, plain oatmeal per 20 pounds of body weight; up to a half-cup for large dogs, one to two times per week.
